What's New at Chemir Analytical Services

New Equipment

Chemir Analytical Services is pleased to announce the acquisition of a new 5975C/6890A Gas Chromatograph/Mass Spectrometer (GC/MS). It has enhanced sensitivity and versatility with the ability to collect the Total Ion Chromatogram (TIC) concurrently with Selected Ion Monitoring (SIM).  Additionally, the instrument is equipped with an auto sampler that can hold up to one hundred samples and an automated injector with multiple solvent washes. The instrument will be used to identify and quantify volatile and semi-volatile organic components in our clients’ samples. When used in combination with appropriate extraction techniques, the instrument can evaluate a wide range of sample matrices.

Our new Dionex ICS-3000 Ion Chromatograph (IC) offers improved detection and quantitation capabilities. This state-of-the-art instrument features reagent free eluent generation for more consistent results.  Additionally, the eluent generation cells can be quickly changed so the instrument can run either a carbonate-based or a hydroxide-based eluent.  We can now analyze anions such as acetate, borate, carbonate, chlorate, chlorite, and formate.  Increased capabilities will also allow for the analysis of many cations such as ammonium, calcium, lithium, magnesium, potassium and sodium.

Chemir Assists Colorado Investigative News

Chemir’s material identification services were recently a feature of a news investigation. Channel KKTV of Colorado reported on a lawn company’s claims that their liquid product could aerate lawns as well as traditional aeration techniques. KKTV reporters shipped a sample of the “Liquid Lawn Aeration” to Chemir for testing, and the results showed the sample is mostly water with some urea, a common form of fertilizer. The Colorado Department of Agriculture is investigating the lawn care company. The complete KKTV news story may be viewed at http://www.kktv.com/news/headlines/19163139.html.
